Lake Orion Lions Jubilee Alert –
Public Road & Parking Lot Closure and Detour Information
This is truly the LO event that brings everyone together. The beer tent is back, the carnival has improved rides and the fireworks show on Saturday night makes it the perfect family outing.
You might say, the LO Lions Jubilee is the Lake Orion community Family Reunion. There are folks who travel “home” for this event!
Meet up with old friends and family at the beer tent, enjoy the live entertainment and the sounds and sights of summer in Lake Orion. If you’re in LO, well then…you’re family too – Join us !
Public Road Closure:
The following Downtown streets will be closed, with detour signage posted beginning with carnival setup at 6:00 am on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 and will remain closed until 6:00 am on Monday, June 27, 2016
- Flint Street closed from Anderson Street to Lapeer Street.
- Broadway Street closed from Front Street to Shadbolt Street.
- The Children’s Park parking lot at Anderson Street and Front Street will be closed to all vehicle parking on Tuesday,June 21 at 10:00 p.m. for placement of the Beer Tent. This parking lot will remain closed until 6:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016.
Closed – Parking lots for the Lake Orion Pet Center at Flint and Anderson and State Farm Insurance at Broadway & Shadbolt will be closed from Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 6:00 a.m. to Monday, June 27, 2016 at 6:00 a.m. for carnival ride placement.
Free – The Lions Club is providing free parking & shuttle service from its property on Miller Road at the intersection with Flint Street and Orion Road and from the Lake Orion School Administration building at Church/Lapeer Street for people attending the Jubilee.
The shuttle bus will make a loop going from Miller Road to the Jubilee and then to the schools building on Lapeer Street and to the Jubilee again and back to Miller Road to make the loop another time. The shuttles will be available from noon to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Traffic seeking to avoid the Downtown area should use the Orion Road to Atwater / M-24 to Atwater detour route.
Lake Orion Lions Fireworks Display:
Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 10:00 p.m. from barges in the bay on Lake Orion off of Greens Park (same shoot location as past 15 years) Rain date is Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 10:00 p.m.
There will be pre-paid permit Fireworks viewing at Greens Park. Green’s Park passes may be purchased at Village Hall Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4:30 until Friday, June 24. Passes may be purchased on line at www.lakeorion.org, by clicking on “Online Services then Parks & Recreation then Green’s Park Fireworks Passes”
* Village Residents – $3.00 per-person.
* Village Residents (seniors 62 & older, & Children 12 & under $1.00)
* Non Village Residents – $6.00 per-person (12 and under & 62 and older $2.00 per-person)
Green’s Park will close at 8:00 p.m. to seasonal park-pass holders and be reopened at 8:30 p.m. for Fireworks Event pass holder entry.
Parking will not be allowed in the Greens Park parking lot during the event. (Handicapped viewers may be dropped off in the lot) All vehicles must be removed from the Park parking lot by 8:30 p.m.
Bellevue Island and Park Island will be closed to non-resident vehicle traffic at 7:00 p.m. to assist in maintaining 2 lanes of travel on all roadways.
(Please remember, there is no parking allowed on the paved portion of village residential streets, parking is allowed between sidewalk and street)
