Meek’s Park is a 1.62 acre community park located along the Paint Creek, in the eastern portion of the Village.

History
This is the Village of Lake Orion’s newest park. The land was obtained in August 1985, when Ralph Meek sold it to the Village for $1.00. A long-time Village Council member remembers Mr. Meek’s wish that the park be a place of solace and quiet. The Park encompasses all of the land in the Lake Orion Assembly Resort subdivision lying between Anderson and Washington streets south of Paint Creek. There is a total of 15 lots plus parts of nine other lots.

Facilities
Meek’s Park is a linear park with approximately 600 feet along the banks of Paint Creek. The park is accessed by a variety of methods. There are walkways leading to Meek’s Park from Glenn Street (east side), Broadway Street (west side), a pedestrian bridge from Washington Street (north side), and a pedestrian bridge from the Orion Art Center (currently removed due to structural problems). The DDA budgeted funds for the bridge replacement in 2008-2009. The bridge replacement is a top priority for of the Village Council and DDA. A sidewalk also leads to Meek’s Park from the Heritage Place senior housing complex, adjacent to the park to the south. There are no automobile parking areas for Meek’s Park.

The main feature of the park is its paved walking trail alongside Paint Creek. Once replaced, the pedestrian bridge over the Paint Creek will be a  prominent feature in the park. Other facilities include picnic tables, park benches, and a checkerboard table. Residents enjoy the opportunity to walk through this natural area, to stop and watch the ducks in the
Creek, or simply to sit and visit with friends. The Park is used by people of all ages.

The DDA is exploring an improved entryway for the access point from Broadway Street as part of its Entryway Project at M-24 and Broadway. The park is considered a gem of the Village, but better signage and a visible entryway is necessary to assist visitors in discovering the park's tranquil beauty.
