Not sure which committee to join?
Here’s a quick description to help you find just the right fit for you.
- Are you well-organized and detail oriented?
- Do you like working with a team to make things happen?
- Do you have the ability to think analytically and see a project through to the end?
This committee involves getting everyone working toward the same goal, promoting Downtown Lake Orion. Whether it’s promoting the image of downtown by developing merchandise to sell (like these cool bags), working on the Buy a Brick program to help renovate the downtown Gazebo or putting together the Volunteer Recognition event, the organization committee is the backbone of the Lake Orion DDA.
The Organization committee meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 11:00 a.m. in the LODDA Virtual Meeting Room.
- Do you care about the look and flow of downtown?
- Do you love architecture and historic building?
- Do you have an eye for making things beautiful?
In the past, this committee helped design the wayfinding signs and placemaking projects like the alleyway on Flint street, and the little parklet that moves throughout the downtown in the warmer months.
They are also responsible for encouraging responsible rehabilitation of historic buildings, and encouraging appropriate
new construction. This committee also reviews applications for the facade grant program through which the DDA offers money to downtown businesses to update the outside of their building. The Design committee is dedicated to making downtown beautiful.
The Design Committee meets monthly on the second Tuesday, 5pm – 6pm at the Village of Lake Orion
Virtual Conference Room.
We are looking for professionals to be part of this committee. Architects, Landscape architects, master gardeners, construction
managers, and developers are examples of the types of professions we are interested in. Please contact Molly
LaLone, Executive Director of the Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority if you are interested in applying for this committee.
Design Committee meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 5pm – 6pm at the Village Virtual Conference Room.
Parking committee meets on the first Monday of the month from 6 pm until 7:30 pm at the Village Virtual Conference room.
- Do you have a vision or a dream for what you’d like to see downtown?
- Are you good with numbers?
- Do you own, or are you interested in owning, a business or property in downtown?
This committee is focused on sharpening the competitiveness of existing business owners and recruiting compatible new businesses and new economic uses to build a commercial district that reflects the people who live, work and play here. The people on this committee are visionaries, dedicated to building the dream of a happy, healthy thriving downtown.
Economic Vitality committee meets on the last Monday of the month at 8:30 a.m. in the LODDA Virtual Meeting Room. Moving forward from September 28th, meeting location will be TBD.
- Do you have an outgoing personality?
- Are you a part of a group looking to make connections in the community?
- Do you like event planning and working with a team?
This committee is directly responsible for putting on events, like the Flower & Art Fair in May, the Love Lake Orion Shop-to-Win contest in February, the Gazebo music series in the summertime and the Halloween parade. There are a ton of different types of opportunities to be involved. Responsibilities range from championing the entire event (which could be many, many hours) all the way down to simply being a part of a decorating or clean-up committee for an
hour or two. Whether a little or a lot, you know your time will be spent making your community a better place to live!
The Promotions committee is broken into two committees- Promotions and Downtown Brand Marketing
These committees meet on the third Wednesday of the month from 3:30 pm until 5 pm in the LODDA Virtual Meeting Room.
We’re proud to have Scott Reynolds, Main Street Oakland County’s Volunteer of the year for 2017, and the subject of this video, on our team.
