After having an emergency repair done on the dam over the weekend, we started the week off with a solar eclipse! And if that wasn’t exciting enough, now we’re getting ready for one of Lake Orion’s biggest and most-loved events, The Orion Art Center’s Dragon on the Lake!
The festivities kick off Thursday with a foam party for kids from 3-6 pm and adults only from 7-10 pm at the Dragon pub. Also that night is a Chili cook-off featuring local fire departments battling to impress you with their best chili recipes, along with a live comedy show.
Friday features a lighted Boat parade out on Lake Orion as well as craft beer and wine tasting at the Orion Art Center. Enjoy a live drawing experience along with your frosty beverage from 6-9 pm. Starting at 7:30 pm listen to live music featuring Daniel Champagne and then rock out to the 80’s inspired Rockstar on the Main stage.
Saturday gets busy with a chalk art contest through-out downtown, a Jet Ski show and, for the first time ever, an 80’s Prom Costume contest from 6-9 pm!
The Dragon boats will be practicing on Saturday, and Sunday morning the races get started at 9:30 am, finishing with the Award ceremony at 6:30 pm at the Dragon Pub/Main Stage.
There are even more bands playing on Saturday and Sunday!
