This Friday starts the renovation of the Gazebo in Children’s park. The cost of the materials has been covered thanks to a $17,000 grant from the Home Depot Foundation. The labor will come from volunteers from the American Legion, employees from 10 area Home Depot locations and the Cops Who Care.
This Friday at 8 am will begin the removal of the floor boards. The replacement materials will be made of Veranda and Azek products, a rot-free composite material available at Home Depot. It’s the same material used for the Orion Veterans Memorial. The entire project will include replacing the decking, ramp, outside facia boards, vertical slats and the lattice at the top.
If you’re interested in being a volunteer, and you have experience with a saw, and/or demolition and hauling materials, bring heavy work gloves and protective eye-wear to the Gazebo. Work begins at 8 am and will continue until 3 pm both Friday and Saturday.
Water bottles will be provided by Alana Hart of Home Depot and Subway sandwiches will be provided by the Village of Lake Orion and the Lake Orion DDA.
Other donations of food and drinks would be much appreciated! Feel free to bring them to the Gazebo this Friday and Saturday.
