New Year’s Resolution Run

Date: January 1, 2018

Time: 9am

Location: Downtown Lake Orion

The 18th annual run through downtown Lake Orion began at 10 am this past Monday, January 1, 2018. This event raises funds for the Lake Orion DDA and its projects and programs. For more information about how those monies are used, click HERE

The morning of the race, the temperature registered 2 degree Fahrenheit, but with the wind chill felt like -11. This was the coldest New Year’s Resolution Run on record!

Registration was set up at Fork N’ Pint and runners who came in to register and pick up their race packets also bought raffle tickets for the silent auction, which benefited Blessings in a Backpack – Lake Orion.

Despite the frigid temperatures, the runners all gathered outside on Lapeer St., just north of Flint to start the race, promptly at 9 am. The Village DPW crew had been busy clearing  and salting the race route, in order to make it as safe as possible. An officer of the LOPD escorted the racers along the route while other officers kept watch over key intersections.
Thanks to Jim Newell of the Lake Orion Review for taking pictures!

After the race, everyone met back at Fork N’ Pint for the awarding of the medals, the silent auction, as well as the new Brunch menu and Bloody Mary/Mimosa bar.

And the winners are…

The first runner to cross the finish line, with a time of 15:41.6 minutes was Brent Lusignan.

Anne Marie Blaney was the fastest female runner, with a time of 17:37.8 minutes. As the top runners, they each won a gift certificate for new running shoes from Hanson’s Running Shop.
